In Search of the American Dream

Kayla stars in her first feature film set to premier in Las Vegas in 2012. Kayla auditioned for the role as a new actress (never having taken any lessons) and competed among others who auditioned in San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, Houston, and LA.
She received a surprise call from the director who let her parents know that she had been written into the story and would play a lead role.
The producers battled with the director to include her in the story, because of her petite stature, innocence, and the demands of dramatic contributions from her that would aid the story.
Kayla enjoyed many facets of making this film from memorizing her lines, meeting the other cast and crew, being on the road with the production (the film was shot all over Texas from Hearne, College Station, Houston, Pasadena, Cuero, and San Antonio), hanging out in the production RV between shoots, ADR, film promotional photography, and making memories getting to meet the famous Tejano singer Ramon Ayala, veteran Actor Lupe Casares, and Latina Vocalist Irma Infante.
As part of the promotions for the film, Kayla has been featured on “Great Day Houston”, “El Dia” and “Mi Familia” magazines, “Univision”, Channel 13 News, The Houston Chronicle, and “Telemundo”.
Clips of the movie have been featured in news coverage all over the country and music video by Mexia “Todos Somos Arizona” worldwide.
The pre-release soundtrack has received airplay on many radio stations across the U.S. and on-line.
This story is a family drama set in the current environment dealing with immigration. The children one day realize that their life will never be the same. Their parents are illegal and circumstances reveal that they will no longer stay together if they don’t do something fast. Their only option at this moment is to hit the Texas highways under cover of darkness, while their brother “David” tries to figure something out. Their “adventure” road trip spirals downard and the family never sees normalcy as they knew in their “Their American Dream”, now turned upside down.
